Bobcats Route Royals in Lake Wales

LAKE WALES, FL (March 24, 2025_ – The St. Thomas University Bobcats women's tennis team put on a commanding performance on Saturday afternoon, securing a 4-0 sweep over the Warner University Royals. 

The Bobcats started strong in doubles play, taking two of the three matches to claim the doubles point. The duo of Jenesie Burgos and Lauren Fullerton dominated their opponents, shutting out Riley Cook and Alizee Piette 6-0 in the No. 2 doubles match. Meanwhile, Sezin Akin and Caterina Antonini battled to a 6-6 stalemate against Camila Matos and Victoria Belisario before the match was left unfinished.

In singles play, St. Thomas asserted its dominance with three decisive wins to clinch the victory. Anita Chornei set the tone with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Matos in the No. 1 singles match. Akin followed up with a commanding 6-2, 6-1 win over Cook at No. 2 singles. Burgos secured the fourth and final point for the Bobcats, taking down Piette 6-3 in the No. 3 singles match.

Fullerton was in control at No. 4 singles, winning 6-1, 4-3 before the match was halted due to the team result being decided. Matches at No. 5 and No. 6 singles were forfeited. 

Women's tennis will have a week off until the face SCAD Savannah on Friday, March 28, back home in Miami Gardens
