Three Bobcats Earn Weekly Recognition

Miami Gardens, Fla. - St. Thomas University's Anna Toon earned her third Sun Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week on Monday, while Anthony Amoroso was tabbed the league's Men's Golfer of the Week and Ian Izquierdo garnered Appalachian Athletic Conference Attacker of the Week. 

Toon went 2-0 in the circle last week, allowing one run in 13.0 innings with 16 strikeouts. She held Florida National off the scoreboard in an 8-0 shutout while striking out nine Johnson batters in a 4-1 triumph. On the season, she is 8-0 with a 0.97 ERA in 43.1 innings while boasting 50 strikeouts. 

Amoroso led the Men's Golf team at the Oldfield Classic, recording the lowest score by a NAIA competitor with a –8 54-hole card. He ended the Classic with a 68 (-4) score. 

Izquierdo powered the Bobcats to a perfect 3-0 weekend in their AAC Conference Pod, sweeping all three matches, averaging 389 kills on a .509 hitting percentage. He boasted a .786 clip with 12 kills in STU's win against Truett McConnell, adding 11 kills on a .563 rate against St. Andrews before concluding the weekend with 12 kills on a .304 percentage.
