Men's Volleyball Extends Win Streak To 11 With Sweep Of St. John Fisher

Miami Gardens, Fla. - In a matchup between one of the top National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NCAA) Division III teams and a new National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) program rising the ranks, the St. Thomas University Men's Volleyball team defeated visiting St. John Fisher 3-0 on Thursday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • Set 1 – The Bobcats overcame an early 3-1 deficit behind three-straight points and led for the duration of the opening set, ending the frame with the final three points. 

  • Set 2 – STU scored the initial three points of the second set and led the entire frame, quickly extending their lead to double digits at 18-8. 

  • Set 3 – The Bobcats broke an early 5-5 stalemate with a 3-0 run while preventing the Cardinals from orchestrating a run greater than two for the rest of the set to complete the sweep. 

 
NOTEWORTHY: 

  • Kaelen Ingram boasted 16 kills on a .444 clip with five digs, three aces and two assisted blocks. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:  

  • STU finished the match with 41 kills on a .429 hitting percentage versus 29 kills on a .171 clip for the Cardinals. 

  • St. Thomas served seven aces versus four for the visitors.  

  • The Bobcats logged one solo block and 12 assisted blocks, St. John Fisher recorded two solo and seven assisted. 

  • STU held a 26-14 advantage in digs.
