(RV) Women's Lacrosse Defeats (RV) Warriors in Neck-and-Neck Battle

BABSON PARK, Fla. (April 9, 2025) - The (RV) St. Thomas University (STU) Women's Lacrosse team faced off against (RV) Webber Internatiional University on Wednesday evening for their last road match of the season. The Bobcats fought a tough match against the Warriors, the game remaining neck-and-neck until the final few minutes, but St. Thomas rose to victory, defeating Webber 11-10. 

HIGHLIGHTS
  • The game kicked off with Webber striking first in the opening period, but the Bobcats didn't waste time evening the score. Hailey Joselyn broke through the defense all on her own, firing a shot past the keeper to knot things up at 1-1.
  • Still in the first, with the scoreboard sitting at at 1-2 after the Warrior's response, Jewell Milliman stepped up. Teamed with a pinpoint assist from Jenna Lytch, she found the back of the net.
  • As the second period unfolded, St. Thomas trailed 4-2, but Joselyn changed the narrative in the first 30 seconds. With a clever feed from Billi Legg, she blasted one home, narrowing the gap to 4-3.
  • Later in the second, down 6-3, Paige Beardsley turned the tide. Thanks to a slick pass from Paige Peters, she buried the ball, bringing St. Thomas within two at 6-4.
  • The third period saw Webber pull ahead again, but Legg answered. Joselyn flipped the script with an assist, setting up Legg to rip a shot that made it 7-5, keeping St. Thomas in striking distance.
  • Just under a minute later, Peters seized a power-play chance. With Jenna Lytch feeding her the ball, she scored, pulling St. Thomas even closer at 7-6.
  • Peters wasn't done. With two minutes left in the quarter, she scored again, bringing the score to 7-8.
  • With only seconds left in the third Joselyn struck again, Peters delivering the assist, leveling the score at 8-8, sending the teams into the fourth deadlocked.
  • The fourth period erupted with St. Thomas taking charge. Joselyn added another goal to give the Bobcats their first lead at 9-8.
  • Keeping the momentum, Joselyn struck again in the fourth pushing the lead to 10-8.
  • Finally, with the Warriors pressing hard and the score at 10-9, Lytch sealed the deal off a pass from Billi Legg, bringing the score to 11-9. 
  • The Warriors gave it their last effort, adding one more goal. But the Bobcats held the lead, earning the victory 11-10.
  • This win brings the Bobcats to an overall record of 7-7 and a Sun Conference record of 3-3.
  • Kaitlyn Atchinson picked up the victory, notching four saves against the Warriors.
  • Joselyn led the charge with four goals for the Bobcats and an assist, while Peters followed with two goals and two assists.
Up next, the Bobcats will return home for their final regular season game of the season against Keiser University on Saturday, April 12th at 11 a.m.
