Football Versus Georgetown Announced As Sun Conference Game Of The Week

Miami Gardens, Fla. – With a top-15 matchup on campus featuring a 2024 National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Football Championship Series Second Round rematch, the Sun Conference announced the 14th ranked St. Thomas University Football Team's Saturday, Sept. 20 contest against No. 6 Georgetown College will be their Game of Week. The Sun Conference will be on-site for the must-watch non-conference matchup, providing additional promotional and sideline coverage throughout the day.

St. Thomas (1-1) welcomes Georgetown after falling 52-24 to a Lindsey Wilson club that's currently ranked 10th in the NAIA on Saturday, Sept. 13. The Bobcats average 39.5 points behind 422.5 yards on offense via 283 in the air and 139.5 on the ground while holding opponents to 171 passing yards and 148.5 rushing for 319.5 total yards and 29.5 points.

Keely Watson leads the offense behind 514 yards on a .632 completion percentage with five touchdowns, passing the ball to David Hayes 10 times for 129 yards and two scores while Geno Lubin has a team-high 134 yards on nine completions. Cole Hayes rushes the ball a team-leading 19 times for 114 yards.

On the defensive side, Jeremiah Laguerre boasts a team-leading 13 tackles while Jeremiah Noal has 2.5 tackles for a loss of seven yards and two broken-up passes. Keyon Martin, Rashard Farmer and Kevean Herring all have one interception on the season.

Georgetown (3-0) treks to the Sunshine State after defeating Warner University 45-14 on Saturday, Sept. 13. The Tigers average 42.3 points off 409.7 yards per game, 255 passing and 154.7 rushing, while holding opponents to 10.3 points on 261 rushing yards and 241 passing.

Justice Burnam and Gehrig Slunaker split the time as GC's quarterback, with Burnam throwing for 399 yards on a .563 percentage and five touchdowns while Slunaker adds 345 yards and two scores. Clayton Davis catches 13 passes for 222 yards and two touchdowns while Guy Bailey rushes for 259 yards and four touchdowns.

Ethan Freeland anchors the Tigers' defense behind 17 total tackles, two fumbles recovered and one interception, followed by John Carter Myers who adds 16 tackles and two forced fumbles.

The Bobcats next see action on Saturday, Oct. 4 when Sun Conference play begins against Ave Maria.
