Miami Gardens, Fla. – Looking to remain undefeated in 2026 on Saturday afternoon, the St. Thomas University Women's Basketball cruised to a 70-37 victory over visiting Ave Maria University.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
· The Gyrenes countered a game-opening basket by the Bobcats with back-to-back layups, their lone run of consecutive baskets during the first quarter which STU ended ahead 14-10.
· A 13-1 start to the second quarter quickly propelled the host to a 27-11 lead, fending off a rally from Ave Maria that got them within 11 at 27-16 while maintaining the double-digit lead at the break via a 29-17 score.
· STU scored the initial seven points of the third quarter and kept the lead above 15 for the rest of the contest.
NOTEWORTHY:

Joey Delancy paced the offense behind 13 points on 5-8 shooting, adding five rebounds.

Sarei McGill added 10 points.
· Maddie Scharrenbrger dished out three assists.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
· STU went 23-64 from the field, 9-31 from beyond the arc and 15-21 from the free throw line. AMU went 11-50, 2-21 from three and 13-27 from the free throw line.
· St. Thomas held a 48-42 advantage in rebounds.
· The Bobcats forced 15 turnovers, resulting in 18 points. The visitors scored eight points off 12 turnovers.
· STU recorded eight steals and two blocks versus three steals and two blocks for the Gyrenes.
