MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (OCTOBER 26, 2026) – The St. Thomas University women's basketball team hits the road today, traveling to the Chicago area for a two-game stretch against Saint Xavier University and the University of St. Francis (Ill.). The Bobcats look to carry their early-season momentum into a pair of road matchups after opening their home schedule with a convincing victory over the University of the Virgin Islands.

St. Thomas (2-0) enters the trip following a 67-44 win over the Buccaneers on Saturday at the Fernandez Family Center. The Bobcats showcased their defensive intensity and scoring depth, holding the Buccaneers to just 20.6% shooting from the field while controlling the glass throughout the contest.

Jaliyah Weekes led the way with a game-high 16 points and 14 rebounds, recording a double-double while adding two assists, two blocks and a steal. Samantha Bautista provided a spark from beyond the arc, finishing with 15 points and five three-pointers, while Isabella Rivera contributed 10 points and eight rebounds.

The Bobcats' dominance on the boards proved to be a major factor, as St. Thomas outrebounded the Buccaneers 54-38. The team also recorded 16 assists and nine steals, highlighting its ability to create opportunities on both ends of the floor.

St. Thomas continued to build on the offensive success it displayed in its season opener, a 97-33 victory over the University of Fort Lauderdale. With contributions coming from throughout the lineup and a defense that has established an early presence, the Bobcats will look to maintain that balanced approach against two challenging opponents away from home.

The road trip begins Monday, October 26, against Saint Xavier University in Chicago, Illinois. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. Central Time (8 p.m. Eastern). The Bobcats will then travel to Joliet, Illinois, to face the University of St. Francis on Tuesday, October 27, with tipoff set for 7 p.m. Central Time (8 p.m. Eastern).
