Bobcats Fall to Southeastern, 2-1

LAKELAND, FLA (OCTOBER 28, 2026) . – The St. Thomas University women's soccer team fell to the Southeastern University Fire, 2-1, after a late goal proved to be the difference on Tuesday night.

Southeastern opened the scoring in the 11th minute when Rebecca Laface found the back of the net off an assist from Sara Irurozki, giving the Fire a 1-0 advantage. St. Thomas battled to stay within reach throughout the first half, heading into the break trailing by one goal.

The Bobcats continued to push in the second half and were rewarded in the 74th minute. Julia Ezcurra scored her seventh goal of the season to bring St. Thomas level at 1-1, giving the Bobcats renewed momentum as they looked to complete the comeback.

However, Southeastern responded late in the contest. Momo Sato scored in the 87th minute to put the Fire back in front, 2-1, and ultimately secure the victory.

St. Thomas finished with 11 shots, including three on goal, while Southeastern recorded 14 shots, nine of which were on target. The Bobcats also registered two saves by the Fire's goalkeeper, while STU's defense recorded seven saves. Southeastern held the advantage in corner kicks, 6-1.

Despite Ezcurra's goal and the Bobcats' second-half effort, St. Thomas was unable to find an equalizer before the final whistle.

The Bobcats will now ook to regroup as they await their Sun Conference tournament opponent.
