WEST PALM BEACH, FLA (FEBRUARY 11, 2026) - The St. Thomas University Bobcats men's tennis team earned a strong victory over the Palm Beach Atlantic University Sailfish, securing the dual match with dominant performances across the singles courts.
St. Thomas picked up five singles wins, highlighted by commanding straight-set victories throughout the lineup. At the top spot, Mariano Alberto Hasenhkopf set the tone with a 6–3, 6–4 win over Milan Visontai. Arthur Bugeaud followed with a decisive 6–1, 6–1 victory at No. 3 singles, while Pablo Olmedo matched that scoreline at the No. 4 position against Peter Dragar.
The Bobcats continued to roll in the lower half of the lineup. Maxime Varotchi earned a 6–1, 7–5 win at No. 5 singles, and Pierlu Cruypemmimck closed out the match with a 6–2, 6–4 victory at No. 6. Palm Beach Atlantic's lone singles point came at No. 2, where Lucas Hoyos edged William Rosencrantz in a hard-fought three-set battle, 7–6, 7–6, 6–4.
The women, won their match 6-1, and jumped out to an early advantage by taking two of the three doubles matches. The No. 1 pairing of Sachely Carrera and Sezin Akin dominated from the start with a 6–1 win over Alina Hoermann and Valeria Lopez. At No. 3 doubles, Alicia Andres Rodriguez and Marta Miralles secured the doubles point with a hard-fought 7–6 victory, giving the Bobcats a 1–0 lead heading into singles.
In singles action, the Bobcats picked up three critical wins to seal the match. Leticia Orlandov delivered a straight-set performance at No. 2 singles, defeating Virginia Borja 6–3, 6–0. Alicia Andres Rodriguez added another point with a 6–3, 6–2 win at the No. 5 position, and Jenesie Burgos clinched a pivotal victory at No. 6 singles with a 6–4, 7–6 decision over Anarella Brito.
Palm Beach Atlantic fought back with three singles wins, including a match tiebreak victory at No. 1 singles where Alina Hoermann outlasted Sachely Carrera, as well as wins at the No. 3 and No. 4 spots. Despite the Sailfish rally, the Bobcats' early doubles success and depth in the lower singles lineup proved decisive.
With the sweep, Bobcat tennis picks up their first match win of the 2026 season.
The Bobcats will retun to action Thursday, February 11 to take on Lynn University.Â
