ORLANDO, FLA (MARCH 15, 2026) - The St. Thomas University men's and women's tennis teams picked up two wins vs Midland and St. Thomas Aquinas during their spring break trip in Orlando, Fla.
Here is how the matches unfolded, first, against Midland.
Midland (Women)
St. Thomas set the tone early in doubles play, securing the opening point by winning two of the three matches. The duo of Maeva Roguet and Alicia Andres Rodriguez claimed a 7–5 victory at No. 1 doubles, while the pairing of Sezin Akin and Sezin Akin cruised to a 6–0 win at No. 2 doubles. The Bobcats also took the No. 3 doubles match, as Caterina Antoniniand Jenesie Burgos secured a 6–1 victory to complete the doubles sweep.
Carrying that momentum into singles, St. Thomas controlled every court. At No. 1 singles, Caterina Antonini led the charge with a convincing 6–3, 6–1 win. Maeva Roguet followed with a 6–2, 6–3 victory at No. 2 singles, while Sezin Akin dominated at No. 3 singles with a 6–0, 6–0 shutout.
The Bobcats continued their strong showing across the remaining courts. Sezin Akin picked up another straight-set win at No. 4 singles (6–1, 6–0), Alicia Andres Rodriguez earned a 6–0, 6–1 victory at No. 5, and Jenesie Burgos closed out the match with a 6–2, 6–0 result at No. 6 singles.
Midland (Men)
The Bobcats opened the match by sweeping all three doubles courts to secure the early advantage. At No. 1 doubles, Arthur Bugeaud and Mariano Alberto Hasenhkopf controlled the match from the start, earning a 6–1 victory. The pairing of Ivan Menendez and Pablo Olmedo followed with a solid 6–4 win at No. 2 doubles to clinch the doubles point. At No. 3 doubles, Pierlugi Cruypemmimck and Jan Gewaltig completed the sweep with a 6–1 victory.
In singles competition, the Bobcats continued to dominate across the lineup. At the top court, Mariano Alberto Hasenhkopf led the way with a decisive 6–0, 6–1 win at No. 1 singles. Pablo Olmedo followed with a 6–4, 7–5 victory at No. 3 singles, while Arthur Bugeaud added another point with a convincing 6–1, 6–0 result at No. 4.

The pairing of Jenesie Burgos and Caterina Antonini delivered a commanding 6–1 win at No. 1 doubles over Sun Zhuoxuan and Kateryna Kryuchkova. At No. 2 doubles, Sezin Akin and Sezin Akin followed with another decisive 6–1 victory against Mar Caneves Bufi and Shreethika Vangala. The No. 3 doubles match between Maeva Roguet and Alicia Andres Rodriguez and Monica Martinez Blucher and Chanelle Russell did not finish.
In singles play, the Bobcats continued their strong form, winning five of the six matches. Kateryna Kryuchkova provided the Spartans' lone point with a hard-fought 7–6, 6–1 victory over Caterina Antonini at No. 1 singles.
STU responded with straight-set victories across the remainder of the lineup. Maeva Roguet defeated Mar Caneves Bufi 6–4, 6–4 at No. 2 singles, while Sezin Akin cruised past Sun Zhuoxuan 6–1, 6–1 at No. 3 singles and also appeared in the No. 4 singles lineup, where STU secured another 6–1, 6–3 win against Shreethika Vangala.
The Bobcats completed the sweep of the lower courts with dominant performances from Alicia Andres Rodriguez, who defeated Monica Martinez Blucher 6–0, 6–0 at No. 5 singles, and Jenesie Burgos, who posted another 6–0, 6–0 win over Chanelle Russell at No. 6 singles.
St. Thomas Aquinas (Men)
St. Thomas University earned a hard-fought victory over St. Thomas Aquinas, using strong doubles play and key singles performances to secure the team win.
St. Thomas University opened the match by sweeping the doubles courts to claim the doubles point. At No. 1 doubles, Ivan Menendez and Pablo Olmedo defeated Henry Ronnberg and Theo Renoux 7–5. The No. 2 doubles match was tightly contested as Arthur Bugeaud and Mariano Alberto Hasenhkopf edged Nagamitsu Kuroda and Ondrej Sramek 7–6. At No. 3 doubles, Pierlugi Cruypemmimck and Jan Gewaltig secured a 6–4 victory over Lorenzo Meschini and Nathan Yacar to complete the doubles sweep.
In singles play, St. Thomas University added important points throughout the lineup. Mariano Alberto Hasenhkopf earned a straight-set win at No. 1 singles, defeating Lorenzo Meschini 6–3, 6–0. Ivan Menendez followed with another victory at No. 2 singles, topping Theo Renoux 6–4, 6–3. Pierlugi Cruypemmimck added to the total with a 6–1, 6–3 win against Nathan Yacar at No. 5 singles.
St. Thomas Aquinas picked up singles wins at No. 3 and No. 6. Henry Ronnberg defeated Pablo Olmedo 7–5, 6–0 at No. 3 singles, while Nagamitsu Kuroda earned a 7–5, 7–5 victory over Jan Gewaltig at No. 6 singles.
The women will now look forward to Rollins College, as they head to Winter Park, Fla, on Thursday, March 19, while the men welcome in Sun Conference foe Southeastern University on Friday, March 20.
