LAKELAND, FLA. - The St. Thomas Bobcats baseball made a loud statement on the road, powering past the top-10 Southeastern Fire baseball, 11–5.
St. Thomas wasted no time grabbing control. Erick Ballenilla opened the scoring with a solo home run in the first, and the offense exploded an inning later as Edwin Toribio and Alan Nava launched back-to-back homers to build a quick 3–0 lead. Ballenilla added another RBI in the frame, capping a four-run surge.
The Bobcats kept the pressure on. Freidy De La Rosa's sacrifice fly in the third extended the lead, and Bryan Arrieta delivered a clutch two-run single in the fifth to make it 7–1. Meanwhile, the pitching staff held Southeastern in check, working out of early trouble and limiting damage.
The decisive blow came in the seventh. Taking advantage of wild pitches and timely hitting, Nicholas Alonso ripped a two-RBI single and Daytan Biegel followed with an RBI double as St. Thomas poured on four more runs to stretch the lead to 11–1.
Southeastern showed resilience with a late push, scoring four runs across the final innings, but the Bobcats stayed composed. They closed it out in the ninth, sealing an impressive win.
Behind early power, clutch hitting, and steady pitching, St. Thomas secured a convincing 11–5 victory over a top-10 opponent.
