AVE MARIA, FLA (APRIL 11, 2026) - Both the St. Thomas University men's and women's tennis programs defeated the Ave Maria University Gyrenes by a final score 4-1 and 4-0, respectively. \\

Here is how it happened:

MEN
St. Thomas set the tone early by claiming the doubles point, winning two of the three matches. The tandem of Arthur Bugeaud and Mariano Alberto Hasenhkopf dominated at No. 2 doubles with a 6-0 shutout, while Maxime Navrotchi and Pierlugi Cruypemmimck matched that effort at No. 3 doubles with another 6-0 victory. Ivan Menendez and Pablo Olmedo battled in a tight contest at the top spot but fell just short, 3-2, as the Bobcats secured the crucial early advantage.

Carrying momentum into singles play, the Bobcats continued to assert control. Hasenhkopf led the charge at No. 1 singles with a commanding 6-0, 6-2 win over Joao Almeida. Cruypemmimck added another dominant performance at No. 5 singles, winning 6-2, 6-2, while Navrotchi was flawless at No. 6 with a 6-0, 6-0 victory.

Bugeaud contributed a hard-fought win at No. 3 singles, up inhis match 6-1, 4-4 (unfinished), helping clinch the overall result for St. Thomas. Although the Bobcats were down in matches at No. 2 and No. 4 singles, their earlier success proved more than enough to secure the team win.

WOMEN

Women's tennis wasted no time asserting control, sweeping the contested singles matches in convincing fashion. Sezin Akin set the tone early at No. 2 singles with a strong 6-2, 6-1 victory, while Alicia Andres Rodriguez followed with a solid 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 3.
