MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (May 26, 2026) - The St. Thomas University Bobcats football program continues to strengthen its coaching staff with the additions of Matt Holecek as Offensive Coordinator and Jordan Heldreth as Offensive Line Coach ahead of the upcoming season.
Holecek arrives in Miami Gardens after spending four seasons working alongside offensive innovator Jeff Lebby at the NCAA Division I level. Most recently, Holecek served as an assistant quarterbacks coach at University of Oklahoma from 2022-23 before joining the staff at Mississippi State University. Prior to Oklahoma, he spent two seasons at University of Mississippi, helping develop one of the SEC's most explosive offenses.
During his time coaching quarterbacks, Holecek worked closely with some of college football's top signal callers, including Dillon Gabriel, Matt Corral, and Drew Lock.
Gabriel emerged as one of the nation's premier quarterbacks under Holecek's guidance at Oklahoma, leading the Big 12 with 3,360 passing yards and 30 touchdowns in 2023 after throwing for 3,163 yards and 25 touchdowns the season before.
At Ole Miss, Corral threw for 6,686 yards and 49 touchdowns across two seasons while completing nearly 70 percent of his passes. In 2021, he became the only player in the country to throw for at least 3,000 yards while also rushing for more than 500 yards.
Holecek began his coaching career at University of Missouri, where he worked as an offensive assistant and helped mentor Lock during one of the top passing seasons in the SEC. Lock finished second in the conference with 3,498 passing yards and third with 28 touchdown passes.
"Matt brings tremendous experience at the highest levels of college football," said the Bobcats coaching staff. "His ability to develop quarterbacks and lead explosive offenses will be a major asset to our program."
Joining Holecek on the offensive staff is Heldreth, who comes to St. Thomas after a highly successful run coaching offensive lines and run-game systems throughout Florida.
Most recently, Heldreth coached at Southeastern University, where he guided one of the top offensive lines in the nation during the 2024 season. Under his leadership, the Fire reduced sacks allowed from 23 the previous season to just 13 while producing the conference's top-ranked rushing offense and the No. 9 rushing attack nationally in rushing yards per game.
Heldreth's offensive line unit also produced four All-Conference selections — Mark Robinson, Brian Do, Kody Chisholm, and Michael Boucher — while Robinson earned Conference Freshman of the Year honors.
Before returning to Southeastern, Heldreth served as Associate Head Coach, Offensive Coordinator, and Offensive Line Coach at Flagler Palm Coast High School in 2022, helping lead one of Florida's top rushing offenses and guiding the program to just its fourth district championship in 50 years.
In 2021, Heldreth coached at Lake Gibson High School, where the team featured Florida's leading rusher, Jaylon Glover, and advanced to the state semifinal round.
Heldreth also spent time at Lake Erie College as tight ends and assistant offensive line coach, mentoring All-Conference tight end Josh Hufstetler. His coaching journey additionally included a successful stop at Atlantic High School, where he helped engineer one of the state's top offenses and played a major role in the program's turnaround from 0-10 in 2017 to an 8-4 playoff team in 2019.
Heldreth began his collegiate coaching career at Southeastern in 2018, helping the program capture a conference championship during his first season on staff.
