Matchup History
This marks the first time since 2009 that the Bobcats have faced Florida International. In that game, St. Thomas lost, 2-1.
Bobcats Fresh Off a Win
St. Thomas has not seen game action since August 20th, when they defeated Xavier University of Louisiana on the road, 2-0. Julien Laborde opened the scoring in the 20th minute with a penalty kick goal. Luca Heusser had a late insurance goal in the 79th minute. Ricardo Delgado was in goal for the Bobcats, making two saves in the shutout victory. Juan Braz, Julian Ramirez, Chris Stafford, and Delgado played all 90 minutes for St. Thomas. The Bobcats look to use their freshness of not playing a game in the past week and a half to their advantage.
Scouting Florida International
FIU is coming off of their first win of the young 2026 season, as they defeated 20th-ranked North Carolina State this past Thursday in their home opener. It was the program's first ranked win since October of 2025. Santi Possu, who is the Panthers' team leader in goals (2) and points (4), scored the game-winning goal against North Carolina State. Nigel Van Haveren has allowed one goal in the last two games in net for FIU. The Panthers started their season with a two-game road trip to the state of Nebraska, where they lost their season opener to Creighton and had a scoreless draw with Omaha.
