Men’s Soccer Scores Two Late Goals to Draw Against Florida Memorial

Miami Gardens, Fla. - After being down two goals late in the second half, St. Thomas Men's Soccer (4-3-1) rallied to score two goals to survive against Florida Memorial University (1-5-2).

It was a scoreless first half between the two squads. It took until the 70th minute for Florida Memorial to break the 0-0 tie. Four minutes later, the Lions added an insurance goal to give themselves a 2 goal lead. The Bobcats would not go down without a fight. In the 79th minute, an Okan Erkocu corner kick connected with Albert Feixas on a header. In the 87th minute, Juan Braz sent a long cross from the Bobcats' end of the field that got past the Florida Memorial goalie, which was finished by Julien Laborde. The Bobcats survived with a 2-2 draw.

St. Thomas had plenty of shot opportunities, as they had 20 total shots with 14 on goal. A combined 10 yellow and red cards were handed out between the two teams. Matias Fuentes was in goal for all 90 minutes for the Bobcats, and he made two saves.

The Bobcats will be back in action on Saturday, October 3, as they travel to Ave Maria University. The game is scheduled to start at 11:00 am.
