Career: 2017, red-shirt year... 2018, Joel played for the Developmental Team at STU... 2019, first season on the varsity-Bobcats team... Rivero had the lowest-ERA on the club (1.59) in 2019... appeared in 21-games and recorded 22-strikeouts, while going 4-0... made two appearances in the NAIA World Series, including the programs second-ever National Championship game against Tennessee Wesleyan...In 2020, Rivero appeared in seven games.

Personal: Following graduation, Joel plans on becoming a professional baseball player or beginning a career as a physical therapist... his favorite athlete is Dwyane Wade, who plays on his favorite team, the Miami HEAT... he is inspired by his mother, Amy.
