Alexander Gray, entering his second season at STU, serves as the Defensive Coordinator for the St. Thomas University Football team. In the program's inaugural season, Gray coached the defensive unit that ranked top-30 nationally, including 23rd in sacks (27), 23rd in opponents fourth-down conversion percentage (38.1%), and 29th in opponents third-down conversions (32.7%).
Gray coached four Bobcats to Mid-South All-Conference honors, as Jayson Contreras, Donnell Bennett III and Michael Torrence were all named to the First-Team and Kahlil Bryan earned Second-Team honors.
Gray started his coaching career in 2005 at Walsh University (OH.) before taking a two-year hiatus and returning to Walsh in 2008 - 2010. Gray then moved to the high school ranks, coaching Springfield High School (2011). Additionally, Gray has coached at Hiram College (2012); coached alongside Head Coach Bill Rychel for three seasons at Notre Dame College (2013-15); Malone University (2016); Wayne State University (2017) and Army West Point Preparatory School (2018).
Gray graduated from Walsh University in 2005 with his B.A. in Corporate Communications and earned his M.S. in Sports Administration from St. Thomas University in 2019.
Gray is married to his wife, Shannon, and the couple has three daughters, Rose, Marcella, and Elizabeth.
