Assistant Coach Jan Wiechmann joins the Bobcats from West Broward High School and the Soccer Academy in Parkland, Fla. Wiechmann brings seven years of coaching experience to the Sun Conference Champions. He was also a very accomplished player in Germany and the United States.
Wiechmann was a standout player for the Germany state team and was also a member of FC Neubrandburg’s U11-U17 teams. He helped the German state team win championships from 2003-2005. After his time playing in Germany, Wiechmann came to the States to play for the Bobcats. He was a captain for the Bobcats and was named to the All-Sun Conference team in 2006 and 2007.
As head coach of West Broward’s Varsity Women’s soccer team, Weichmann compiled a record of 45-11-3. In his last two seasons with the team they scored over 170 goals while only conceding less than 20. He coached six All-State Team players and a District Championship in 2012.
The Bobcats welcome his winning pedigree and St. Thomas ties to a young team that will look to continue to play at the highest level in 2014.
