Alex Marrero joined a big class of underclassmen and quickly made history being one of the first to become a national qualifier in the 2021-22 season. Marrero is currently a two-time national qualifier being a part of the team that finished as the national runner-up in 2022-23. The Fort Lauderdale-native is a nine-time All-American earning the second most at the 2022-23 championships with seven and ties a program record for second-most in a single season.

Marrero was a part of a swim that etched STU in the NAIA record books, the 400-medley relay time of 3:12.72 was good enough to set an NAIA National Championship Meet Record.
