West Palm Beach, Fla. – The Bobcats looked across the net for their fourth match in five days and saw a familiar opponent in the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish (4-0). Unfortanitely for the Bobcats (0-4) they also saw a similar result from the last time the two played losing 3-1. Adriana Montillia led the Bobcats in kills with 10. She currently leads the team with 39 total and an average of 9.75 kills a match.
During the four game match the Bobcats remained quick on their feet maneuvering in position to total several digs. Montillia put together 11 and both Julianne Rivera and Daniela Orlandini led the team with 13. The Bobcats also saw a small increase in their block total from the first meeting putting together nine the second time around.
Game one began with the Bobcats scoring first on a kill by Nicole Barraza from Alexia Secondo. The lead would change hands or the game would become tied eleven times to start the game. Eventually the Bobcats would slow down once they scored ten points and would never regain the lead losing the game 25-13.
The slow finish to game one did not carry over into game two for the Bobcats as it was the Sailfish making several errors which help the Bobcats build a 10-2 lead. After a service ace by Rivera the Sailfish began to turn up the pressure and forced the Bobcats to use two timeouts to slow the Sailfish momentum. After the second timeout the Bobcats were holding onto an 18-15 lead. The game remained close until Montillia put the Sailfish away with back-to-back kills giving the Bobcats the 25-23 win.
With match tied at one game a piece game three began competitive much like the first. Like the first game though the Bobcats stopped scoring once they reached ten and allowed the Sailfish to win the game 25-13.
For game four the Bobcats appeared to be determined not to lose to the Sailfish for the second time in four days but the Sailfish proved to be too tough again and won the game 25-15 and thus the match 3-1. The Bobcats will play again Friday September 5 at 7 PM against Savannah College of Art and Design, at Barbara Goleman High School.
