MIAMI GARDENS, Fla.-  The Lady Bobcats hosted the Ave Maria Gyrenes Saturday for their third Sun Conference game of the season.  STU came out on top, 62-45.

The Bobcats jumped out early and built a 14-6 lead just four minutes into the game.  Carissa Staiano led STU with 15 at the break on 5-of-9 shooting and 3-of-5 coming from behind the arc.  The Bobcats also forced 14 first-half turnovers out of the Gyrenes that helped them reach a 39-19 lead at  the break.

Ave Maria was clearly outmatched as the lead was built up to 29 five minutes into the second period.  Coach Robin Harmony subbed for her starters with ten minutes left in the game when the Bobcats were up 26.  Ave Maria falls to 7-8 on the season while STU stands at 7-6.

Three Bobcats scored in double figures, including Staiano (18), Cindy Castrillon (13), and Nickerline Montina (10).  The ladies will host Southeastern on Monday at 6 PM.
