MIAMI GARDENS, Fla.- The Johnson & Wales Lady Wildcats were clearly outmatched, only hitting 9 field goals in their 22-60 loss to the STU Bobcats Saturday.
The game proved to be no contest, early, as the Bobcats took a 36-7 lead into the half.
Amanda Fernandez led the Bobcats with 14 points in just 16 first-half minutes. Also, the Wildcats recorded 25 first-half turnovers to just 1 assist.
The Bobcats outrebounded Johnson & Wales 33-26 and limited themselves to 14 turnovers in comparison the 31 JWU recorded for the game.
Carissa Staiano supported Fernandez's 17-point effort with 8 of her own, while Alexandria Vanterpool continued her consistent play with 10 points and 9 rebounds.
STU improves to 11-7 and 5-2 in the Sun Conference. They welcome Palm Beach Atlantic to the Fernandez Center Tuesday for a 7 PM matchup.
