MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The St. Thomas University Women's Soccer team clinched playoff spot with victory over Warner University on Sunday. The final score was 3-0.
In addition to sending a farewell to STU's seniors, the Bobcats secured the #4 seed in the playoffs.
Early in the first half, #10 Amanda Belarmino scored the opening goal with assist coming from #16 Shante Chevannes' great header toward the goal. The second goal came from #14 Gabby Smith from #10 Belarmino. STU controlled most of the offense for the bulk of the game finishing with a total of 10 shots, compared to Warner's 4.
#1 Ariana Lorenzo led the way for the Bobcats defense with 3 saves and no goals scored, shutting out the Royals. Warner's goalkeeper #0 Andrea Owens finished with 3 saves as well. The Bobcats improve to 8-5-1 overall and 5-3 in the conference.
The Bobcats return to action on October 28th, 2010 versus Palm Beach Atlantic University. Kickoff is set for 4 pm, come cheer on the Bobcats!
