10/14/2012 5:18:00 PM

Box Score MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. - Junior forward Sara Mira scored a school-record five goals as the St. Thomas women's soccer team posted a 10-1 victory over Sun Conference rival Warner Sunday afternoon at Bobcat Field.  Mira scored a hat trick in the first half and then scored two goals in the second period en route to the record-setting performance.  She breaks the school record previously held by current Head Coach Michelle Smith, the all-time leading scorer in St. Thomas women's soccer history.

The scoring came early and often for the Bobcats as Mira scored the game's first goal less than six minutes into the contest on an assist by Melony Poviones.  Another Poviones assist led to a second goal by Mira in the 18th minute, followed by a third Mira goal on an assist by Sarrah Granda in the 22nd minute to make the score 3-0.
With the score 7-1 in the second half, Mira scored in the 69th minute for her fourth goal of the day.  WIth hard rain coming down in the final minutes, Mira scored the record-breaking goal off an Ashley Taylor with just 1:01 remaning to play, STU's tenth goal for the game.

To round out the scoring for the Bobcats, Taylor scored twice with both goals coming in the first half and notched two assists for a six-point game.  Poviones scored a goal to go along with her two assists and Granda scored a goal to go with her one assist.  Danelle Nguyene registered one goal and one assist as well.

The Bobcats continue conference play with a home match vs. Johnson and Wales on Friday followed by a critical home game vs. Northwood on Sunday.  Both game times are set for 4 p.m.
