MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The St. Thomas women's soccer team won its third consecutive game with a 14-0 road win over Florida Memorial, played Wednesday evening at Vizcaya Park in Miramar, Fla. The Bobcats improved their record to 3-2 on the season.
Senior
Victoria Shahbaz and junior
Sara Mira each recorded hat tricks. In addition to their three goals, both Shahbaz and Mira also had an assist. Sophomore
Melisa Camacho scored two goals.
In all, nine different Bobcats scored with
Shante Chevannes,
Monica Lozano,
Courtney Trujillo,
Ashley Taylor, and
Christina Salazar all scoring goals in addition to Shahbaz, Mira and Camacho. Taylor and
Sarrah Granda also picked up assists.
STU, who led at halftime by the score of 9-0, outshot Florida Memorial 42-7. Senior goalkeeper
Ariana Lorenzo needed just two saves to record the shutout, her first of the season.
Wednesday's game vs. Florida Memorial does not count as a Sun Conference competition; however the two teams will meet again in a conference match on Thursday, October 25 at Bobcat Field. The Bobcats return to action with their conference opener, a road game at No. 4 Embry-Riddle on Friday, September 28.
