Box Score MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. - On an afternoon when nine seniors were honored, the 14th ranked Bobcats women's soccer team blanked conference and crosstown rival Florida Memorial 11-0 at Bobcat Field. With the win, St. Thomas improved to 11-1-1 overall and 6-1 in The Sun Conference.
Senior midfielder
Melony Poviones tied a school record with five goals in the win. Poviones tied the record also held by fellow senior
Sara Mira, who scored five goals in a game last season vs. Warner. Poviones also had an assist on the afternoon, to finish with an astounding 11 points for the game. With the five goals, Poviones now has a career-high 17 goals for the season.
Not to be outdone, Mira scored a hat trick of her own on Saturday to bring her season goal total to 20 which leads all players in the Sun Conference and ranks among the nation's elite.
Senior defender
Courtney Trujillo scored a goal and recorded an assist, while twin sister and fellow senior
Amanda Trujillo scored her seventh goal of the year. The only other scoring came by freshman
Zelda Jagryd, while sophomore
Alyssa Kilbride registered an assist.
The game marked the final regular season home game of the season for the Bobcats who were undefeated with a 7-0-1 record on the year. In home games, STU outscored its opponents by a staggering margin of 47-6 this season.
The Bobcats wrap up the 2013 regular season campaign with two conference road games beginning with a trip to Webber International in Babson Park, Fla. on Friday followed by the season finale on Sunday, October 27 at Warner in Lake Wales, Fla.
