BOBCATS SCORE THREE GOALS, YET FALL TO FIRE

LAKELAND, Fla. - In a high scoring affair, St. Thomas (1-12, 1-5) fell to host Southeastern (8-3-2, 2-2-2) in a Sun Conference match up on Wednesday evening at SEU Field in Lakeland, Fla.  The Bobcats managed to score three goals in the defeat, yet trailed the entire match to the Fire.  Fabian Heinrich, Marcelo Norton, and Carlos Cruz each scored for St. Thomas.

Southeastern jumped to a 3-0 lead with goals in the 13th, 18th and 23rd minutes.  The Bobcats got on the board with a successful penatly kick by Fabian Heinrich in the 28th minute.  With less than three minutes in the first half, STU cut the Fire's lead to one goal on a goal by Norton offan assist from 20 yards out by Carlos Cruz.

Trailing 3-2 at halftime, the Bobcats gave up another goal in the 62nd minute to SEU's Ashton Hicks.  STU rallied to within one goal again in the 66th minute on a free kick by Cruz that bounced off the right goal post and into the net.  Southeastern however responded and put the game out of reach with two more goals (78th minute, 88th minute) late in regulation.

The Bobcats return home with another Sun Conference match vs. Ave Maria at 4 p.m. on Saturday at Bobcat Field.
