MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – St. Thomas (1-0) dominated from start to finish in an 80-42 win over Clearwater Christian (0-1) in the season opener for both teams.  Seniors forwards Claudia Martin (21 pts, 17 rebs) and Dannisha Pierce (14 pts, 10 rebs) each recorded double-doubles while sophomore guard Desanta' Franklin-Jordan led all players with 23 points to lead the charge.
 
STU ran out to an 18-2 lead to start the game and took a 35-point lead into halftime.  Much of the Bobcats scoring came in transition with a total of 14 fast break points on the afternoon.
 
Defensively, the Bobcats held the Cougars to 20% shooting from the field and forced 25 turnovers resulting in 32 points.
 
Next up is for the Bobcats is a two-game road trip to the San Francisco Bay Area beginning with a game at Menlo College on Nov. 7.
