MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – St. Thomas (2-1) takes down Allen University (0-7) in a game thoroughly controlled by the Bobcats. STU had dominant performances by Dannisha Pierce (23 points, 20 rebounds), Alliya Pinckney (11 points, 14 assists, seven rebounds) and Desanta' Franklin-Jordan (15 points, eight rebounds, four assists), which led the Bobcats to the 108-32 victory over the Yellow Jackets.
The first half was all Bobcats as the team posted a total score of 57 by half and shot 47 percent from the field. The Bobcats were also 50 percent from behind the three-point arc for the first half. The defense was just as stout, holding Allen to only 17 points in the first half.
The second half was much of the same performance, as STU put up 51 points, shooting 55 percent from the field and 30 percent from three. Seven Bobcats were able to post double-digit points for the day, Emma Grimes (12), Alliya Pinckney (11), Claudia Martin (10), Desanta' Franklin-Jordan (15), Dannisha Pierce (23), Jamesha Willis (17) and Shaye Barrett (14). Pierce also led the Bobcats in boards with an astounding 20 rebounds. Pinckney led STU with 14 assists. Emma Grimes was able to score four three-pointers off of 11 tries as well.
The Bobcats return to action tomorrow at 2 p.m. at the Fernandez Family Center to face off against international talents from the University of Puerto Rico.
