MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – St. Thomas (3-1) takes down University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez (1-2) Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m at The Fernandez Family Center. The Bobcats had a great performance by
Claudia Martin with 23 points and 15 rebounds, which led them to the victory over the Bulldogs by a score of 78 to 35.
The first half was played close, as the Bobcats were only to develop a seven point lead by the end of the half. STU shot 45 percent from the court and were two for three from the three point line in the first. They were also able to make eight of twelve free throws in the first, which helped them extend their lead in the first as well. The Bobcats were great on defense in the first also, as they were able to hold the University of Puerto Rico to only 29 percent from the court in the first, but allowed four three in the first, which kept the score close.
In the second half, STU took over led by Martin's 23 points. Three other Bobcats were able to post double digit points.

Desanta' Franklin-Jordan with 11 points,
Emma Grimes with15 points and
Dannisha Pierce 10 helped aid the Bobcats victory. Martin also had a great day on the boards as she was able to post 15 rebounds for the game. Grimes also had a great performance from three, as she was five for seven for the day. Overall, the Bobcats outscored by posting 48 points in the second, while holding the Bulldogs to only 12.
STU has a break until they return back to play on December 6. They will be playing Clearwater Christian College for a second time in Clearwater at 2 p.m.
