STU ENDS REG SEASON AS CHAMPS DESPITE L

Box Score AVE MARIA, Fla. - With the regular season conference championship and number one seed in the conference tournament already clinched, St. Thomas was defeated in its final regualr season contest 56-40 at Ave Maria on Saturday night. The Bobcats conclude their 2013-14 regular season campaign under first-year Head Coach Albrey Grimsley with a 16-11 overall record and a 13-3 record in The Sun Conference. Ave Maria improved to 20-10 overall and 11-5 in league play.

Daniella Ciccarone led the Bobcats with 12 points on a night when she eclipsed the 1,000 point mark. Entering the game, she needed six points to reach 1,000 points in her college career. She now has 1,006 career points in her four years as a collegiate player. Ciccarone spent her freshman and sophomore seasons at Walsh University and her last two years at STU. This season has been the most prolific of her career with 356 points through 27 games.

The Bobcats will host an opening round game of The Sun Conference Championship Presented by Shula's Hotel and Golf Club on Tuesday at 6 p.m. vs. eighth seeded Thomas Univ. at the Fernandez Family Center.
