AVE MARIA, Fla. - St. Thomas (6-4, 3-1 TSC) responded from their first conference loss with a much bettor effort in a 1-0 victory over Ave Maria (1-7, 0-4 TSC). The difference maker came late as
Fabian Heinrich delivered the game-winner in the 80th minute.
Deljan Bregasi picked up his second victory of the year and recorded his second shutout of the season.
The Bobcats were the more agressive team throughout the contest. Although, at times, their aggressiveness was mismanaged. Two Bobcat players were handed yellow cards in the first half. After 45 minutes of play, St. Thomas still was not able to capitalize with any goals. Both teams entered the half scoreless.
The frustration continued throughout most of the second half. An opportunity, however, would present itself with 10 minutes to go. After being rewarded with a corner kick,
Victor Cortez found Heinrich for the header and the lead. St. Thomas would hold on for the 1-0 decision.
The Bobcats continue their conference road trip on Wednesday, when they head up to Babson Park to battle the Warner Royals. Kick-off is set for 7 P.M. E.T.
