MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. - St. Thomas (6-5, 3-2 TSC) found its sixth win by the score of 3-0 in seasonal play over the Ave Maria Gyrenes (5-6, 1-4 TSC). The victory marks the third win in Sun Conference play for the Bobcats. Today's goal scorers included
Amyah Banks,
Adriana Prieto, and
Ana Parra.
Cristina Garwacki documented her third shutout of the season and picked up her fifth victory.
The first half was an offensive field day for St. Thomas. The Bobcats outscored the Gyrenes seven to nil in shot attempts throughout the first half. The aggressiveness would yield a score in the 10th minute when
Amyah Banks would score off a penalty kick. Heading into half the Bobcats held an early 1-0 lead.
The second half would remain the same offensively for St. Thomas. Generating 10 shot opportunities while defending against five, another two goals were scored in the half. In the 70th minute
Adriana Prieto, found the back of the goal for her second of the season putting the Bobcats up 2-0. Following after in the 86th minute with her fourth goal of the season,
Ana Parra would seal the lead 3-0 with 14 minutes left in the match. From a defensive standpoint St. Thomas goalie
Cristina Garwacki, accumulated four saves in the second half to hold the lead for the Bobcats.
St. Thomas returns to the pitch on Thursday, October 15th, for another conference match-up against Warner University (Fla.). Start time between the Bobcats and Royals is set for 5 P.M. E.T
