BOBCATS CONTINUE CONFERENCE STROLL; USE FIRST HALF SURGE TO GROUND SANDSHARKS

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. - St. Thomas (5-4, 2-1 TSC) continued to find their groove in conference play with a decisive 5-0 victory over the South Carolina-Beaufort (1-9-1, 1-2 TSC) Sandsharks.  The victory marks two straight Sun Conference victories for the Bobcats.  Today's goal scoreres included Sarah Lyppert Thomsson, Amyah BanksMichelle Bailey, Adriana Prieto, and Sharon TejedaCristina Garwacki recorded her second straight shutout, giving her two for the season, and picked up her fourth victory.

The first half was all St. Thomas.  The Bobcats generated 15 shots, compared to the Sandsharks' one attempt.  The aggressiveness would yield the Bobcats an early 3-0 lead heading into half.

St. Thomas struck first in the 11th minute when Lyppert Thomsson collected the ball off a scramble for her sixth goal of the season.  This would prove a common theme as the Sandsharks would continue to have trouble digging the ball out of the front of the net.

In the 15th minute, Banks would capitalize off the exact set of circumstances.  USCB's Randi Anzek proved unable to clear out the ball.  Banks continued to battle and managed to steal the ball from the keeper's grasp.  With a clear net in front of her, Banks converted on her first goal of the season.

The Bobcats continued to pressure, and again their efforts resulted in another goal scored.  Bailey was able to collect the rebound from Sifontes for her fourth goal of the season, and the team's third goal of the match.

The second half would be more of the same.  Prieto, a freshman, was inserted in the game's 36th minute.  Her activity in the front court culminated in her first career goal in the 52nd minute, when Tejeda found her in front of the net from 40 yards out.

Tejeda would find the back of the net, herself, when she was the beneficiary of a Bailey assist.  This latest goal marked her fifth of the season.

St. Thomas returns to the pitch on Wednesday, October 7th, for another conference affair against Southeastern (Fla.).  Kick-off between the Bobcats and Fire is set for 1 P.M. E.T.
