BOBCATS BURNED BY LATE SOUTHEASTERN GOAL

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. - St. Thomas (5-5, 2-2 TSC) had its two-game conference winning streak snapped in a 2-1 defeat to visiting Southeastern (7-3, 1-2 TSC).  Trailing 1-0 at the half, the Fire scored two goals in the second to secure their first conference victory of the season.  The Bobcats' only score came via Stephanie Martin.

St. Thomas pushed the pace the in the early goings.  Sharon Tejeda and Michelle Bailey would continuosly test the defensive prowess of Fire goalkeeper, Jessica McClernan.

McClernan managed to hold up well over the game's first 39 minutes, but Tejeda managed to slip a ball through to Martin in the 40th minute to give the Bobcats a 1-0 lead heading into half.  It was the first goal of Martin's career as a Bobcat.

Momentum would find itself on the Fire sidelines early in the second half.  In the 50th minute, Bre Eldridge found Hunter Talley outside the box for the equalizer.  It marked Talley's second goal of the season.

The Fire was again the benefactor of good fortune when Karly Palmar snagged the ball and dribbed down the pitch for a break-away game winner in the 82nd minute.  Tejeda and Bailey combined for another two cracks at evening the match, but McClernan secured the save in both situations.

The Bobcats return to the field this Saturday for their first road match of the season.  This weekend's opponent is Ave Maria.  The Bobcats previously defeated the Gyrenes 9-0 in a non-conference match in September.  Kick-off is set for 4 P.M. E.T. at Tom Golisano Field House in Ave Maria, Fla.
