WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - St. Thomas (8-6, 5-3 TSC) dropped their latest match to Keiser (11-2-1, 7-1 TSC), ultimately suffering defeat by the score of 3-2. Â
Sharon Tejeda scored her ninth and tenth goals on the afternoon for the Bobcats, who fell into a two-way tie with USC Beaufort for the conference's third seed.
What was a defensive struggle, in the first half, became a scoring outbreak in the second period. Â In the 53rd minute, Keiser's Louise Andersson broke the stalemate when she converted Johanna Engberg's assist into the match's first goal.
The Bobcats answered back in the 57th minute when
Valeria Zerbo dished the ball to Tejeda, who delivered the equalizer.
The Seahawks' Andersson would return the favor when she assisted Engberg in the 61st minute. Â It was the second time the Andersson-Engberg connection one-upped the Bobcats.
Keiser's Ebba Blomqvist appeared to pad the Seahawk lead with another goal in the 76th minute. Â The Bobcats, on the other hand, had different intentions.
Another Tejeda goal, this one assisted by
Sarah Lyppert Thomsson, brought St. Thomas to within one. Â However, having come in the 89th minute, there simply was not enough time for the Bobcats to complete the comeback.
The Bobcats next opponent are the Wildcats of Johnson & Wales University (Fla.). Â Both teams are looking to maintain their place within the conference standings, as a loss will certainly affect seedings. Â Kick-off is set for noon E.T. this Sunday. Â Johnson & Wales will be hosting at North Miami Stadium.
