BOBCATS FALL TO SOUTHEASTERN IN WET CONDITIONS

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. - St. Thomas (5-4, 2-1 TSC) suffered it's first conference defeat (3-0) against Southeastern University (6-4, 2-1 TSC).  Victor Cortez led the Bobcats with three shots, two of which were on goal.  Ultimately, St. Thomas did not have enough offense to pull out the victory.

The Fire struck first in the sixth minute when Victor Reyes scored off a stolen ball. Soon afterwards both the match would be halted due to a lightning delay with only 16 minutes remaining in the first.

Upon restart, things took a turn for the worse when keeper Jiayi Wang was handed a red card for a slide tackle.  Deljan Bregasi was inserted at goalkeeper to defend the ensuing penalty kick, but Pedro Ivo Dias was able to convert to put the Fire up 2-0.

St. Thomas would continue to generate scoring opportunities, but the Fire defense remained stout.  Ikenna Abika added another Fire goal in the 86th minute to secure the victory.

Up next, St. Thomas heads up to Ave Maria, Florida for their first conference road test.  The Gyrenes are 1-5 and hungry for their second Sun Conference win.  Kick-off is set for 6 P.M. E.T.
