BOBCATS FALL TO WARNER IN TSC FINALE; WARNER TO HOST CONFERENCE TOURNEY

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. - For the second time this season in conference play, St. Thomas (23-9, 10-2 TSC) found themselves falling in three straight sets (19-25, 17-25, 21-25) in a road match-up against the Warner Royals (17-4, 12-0 TSC).  It marked the 14th straight victory for the Royals, who won the Sun Conference with a perfect record of 12-0.

Samantha Garza and Lenicia Tyson led all Bobcat hitters with 11 kills each.  Behind them was teammate Whitney Battoe, who played a more pivotal role for the Bobcats as she recorded (8 kills), (1 assist) and led all players defensively with (15 digs).  Kimberly Martino served up 19 assists, while Dana Nowaczyk had 15 of her own in during match play.  Following behind Battoe defensively was Martino with (9 digs) and Sydney Maynard with (8 digs).

Unfortunately, the Bobcats did not have enough to seek revenge against Warner.  Yet again, with a Royals offense that had three hitters finish with double digit kills, the Bobcats could not find an answer defensively. For a second time against the Bobcats, Warner's Adrienne Czaplewski had a monster day hitting with 15 kills.  Angie Pagan-Pere aiding with a helping hand recorded 13 kills, while Breeanna Navarro followed suit by putting down an additional 10 kills on the afternoon.  Serving them the ball was Jenna Swaffer, who tallied 34 assists, resulting in another match high against the Bobcats.

With the start of the match, also came Warner's high paced offensive attacking style. Wasting no time at all, the Royals made an imposing statement with a 25-19 win during set one.  Catching St. Thomas off guard, the Royals would continue to press the pace in set two.  Staying consistent with their game plan, the Royals would grab another win (25-17) at the conclusion of the second set.  Heading into set three, the offensive trio of Czaplewski, Navarro, and Pagan-Perez, assisted by Swaffer, would be the kryptonite to Bobcats.  St. Thomas, giving everything it had throughout set three, would find itself falling short 21-25 in a match-up that would host tournament play.

Having a solid seasonal performance, St. Thomas will continue on to tournament play as the second seed. The Sun Conference Tournament will be hosted by Warner University.  Updates on time and opponent will be anounced
