BOBCATS SURVIVE TRIPLE OT THRILLER

THOMASVILLE, Ga. – St. Thomas (23-4, TSC 16-1) showed a tremendous display of grit and resolve in their triple-overtime victory over the Thomas Nighthawks (10-16, TSC 7-10), escaping by the narrow margin of 80-78.  The Bobcats led by as many 17 points and by eight with a 1:09 to go in the second half.  Yet the Nighthawks continued to battle back, eventually extending the game into multiple overtimes.  But the Bobcats stood tall in the face of adversity, and, with a regained composure, finally put the Nighthawks away.

Multiple contributions were evident as the Bobcats had five players in double figures.  Dannisha Pierce led the way once again with 24 points, six rebounds, six steals, and five assists.  Coming in second was Cleyder Blanco, who provided a significant spark off the bench with 17 points, 11 rebounds, two steals, and two blocks.  Desanta' Franklin-Jordan had a solid performance with 13 points and four rebounds.  Jamesha Willis, another staple off the bench, had a scrappy performance with 12 points, seven rebounds, and two steals.  Claudia Martin also asserted herself in the frontcourt with 10 points and six rebounds to go along with a steal and a block.

The Bobcats return to action on Saturday, February 21, when they face Webber International at the Fernandez Family Center.  With a victory the Bobcats will officially clinch the Sun Conference's top seed.  The Bobcats previously defeated Webber International 57-49 on January 23.  Tip-off is scheduled for 2 P.M. local time.
