STU GOES UNDEFEATED IN LAKES WALES; GAME THREE OF SERIES POSTPONED DUE TO RAIN

LAKE WALES, Fla. – St. Thomas (10-4, TSC 6-2) takes the second game against Warner University (5-12, TSC 2-6) in Saturday afternoon conference doubleheader.The second game of the doubleheader was called in the third inning of a 1-1 battle due to heavy rain. A later date is under current discussion with both teams. In game one, Paul Chacin led the way for the Bobcats going four for four with a double, walk and five RBI. On the mound, Alejandro Kan went a strong six innings, giving up only one run and picking up win for STU.  
 
To start the day, the Bobcats continued their power inning resume, as in the third inning, STU tacked on 10 runs off of eight hits, with the biggest coming from the bat of Michael Centeno, as he scorched a ball over the right field fence and hit his first grand slam of his season. The Bobcats would continue to score a run in the fifth, from a Chacin single, four runs in the sixth, and a run in the seventh. The run-rule would secure the Bobcats conference victory for the third time this season.
 
In game one, Kan started on the mound for the Bobcats and finished the day after six innings of great work pitched. Kan was awarded his first win of the season after only allowing one run off of six hits, one walk and two strikeouts. The Bobcats bat power came from multiple sources around the lineup as, eight of the nine starters all recorded hits in game one. The most powerful hitters came from Cesar Ramirez, Chacin and  Centeno. Ramirez finished game one with four hits and two RBI, Chacin with four hits and five RBI and Centeno with two hits and five RBI, with one of those hits being the third inning grand slam.

In game two, the Royals were able to strike first in the bottom of the first, as Dylan Gross scored off a wild pitch from Kharlin Sued. But, the Bobcats continued their fighting ways, as they scored in the top of the third from a David Quintero bunt single that scored Brandon Canizares. Unfortunately, the Bobcat run would end their as t game would be called due to rain. Both teams are in current discussions to re-schedule the game for a later date.

The Bobcats come back home to host a group of visiting northern schools during their spring break week, starting with a doubleheader at Paul Demie Mainieri Field versus AIB College of Business (IA) Monday afternoon. First pitch will be at 3 p.m.
