Adam Duarte went 3-4 with a run scored to lead St. Thomas (1-0)Â over Florida Memorial 6-4 to win its regular-season home opener on Opening Night at Paul Demie Mainieri Field. Â

Kharlin Sued pitched 3 innings of relief to earn his first win as collegiate, while
Chris Rodriguez recorded his first career save by retiring all three batters he faced in the ninth.

Florida Memorial scored with first with a run in the opening inning, but St. Thomas took the lead with two runs in bottom of the first. STU then scored three runs in the second to take a 5-1 lead. FMU battled back with two runs in the fourth and one run in the seventh to cut the lead to 5-4.

In the bottom of the eighth,
Jerry Downs hit an RBI single to right field to score
Bryan Bermudez and provide the Bobcat with an insurance run.

Rodriguez closed out the game with a 1-2-3 ninth, striking out two of the three Lions he faced.
