DII NOVA TAKES TWO FROM STU IN EVENING DOUBLEHEADER

DAVIE, Fla. – St. Thomas (2-8) drops doubleheader pair to Division II opponent Nova Southeastern (10-13) in evening matchup. In game one NSU secured a 9-1 vicotry over STU, while in game two, the Sharks would sweep the Bobcats in a 7-5 win. Cristina Sacramento was able to tack on an RBI in each of the games, as well as pitch a complete game in the second game of the doubleheader.

In game one, the Sharks from Nova Southeastern attacked early as they put up four runs on starting pitcher Amanda Furar in the bottom of the first. Bobcats were able to respond in the bottom of the second with a Cristina Sacramento groundout that scored Kristen Scott. That would be all the scoring the Bobcats would produce in game one, as NSU would add five more runs to their lead in the ensuing innings to secure the victory. Overall, on the first matchup, Carson Catasus, Christina Horton and Scott were all able to post hits, while Catasus would also take control of the last two innings pitched in game one.

In game two, NSU would be the first to attack again, as they scored three to end the first inning. This time though, the Bobcats were able to respond and take the lead in the top of the third, as Natalie Sacramento would stroke a 2 RBI single up the middle and later score on a wild pitch. Cristina Sacramento would help her on cause, as she started the game for STU in game two, by posting one more run for the Bobcats to end the top of the of the third rally with a RBI double. Unfortunately, the Sharks would respond again and score four more in the fifth. The Bobcat would attempt to rally again in the top of the sixth with a Michelle Murch RBI double, but it wouldn't be enough in the NSU doubleheader sweep. Overall, on game two, Murch would have a multi-hit game, while Natalie Sacramento, Amanda Furar and Cristina Sacramento would all record game two hits.

The Bobcats return to action this Saturday at Bobcat Field for another doubleheader, as they face off against another DII opponent, Barry University. First pitch scheduled for 1 p.m.
