SAND SHARKS BITE BOBCATS IN CONFERENCE DOUBLEHEADER

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Bobcats (2-14, TSC 0-4) continued conference play in another doubleheader against South Carolina Beaufort (16-8, TSC 4-0).  The Bobcats dropped game one 5-3, followed by a 6-2 defeat in game two.

Cristina Sacramento had a strong outing with three hits and 2 RBI.  Amanda Furar performed well with two hits and an RBI.  Jessica Matias, Carson Catasus, and Natalie Sacramento had solid hitting days with two hits apiece.

The Sand Sharks opened up game one in a big way scoring four runs off three hits and 1 error, the highlight of which was a homerun to left field by Sam Boland.  The Bobcats would add a run of their own in the bottom of fifth, when an RBI single by Amanda Furar advanced Carley Distasio all the way to home after an error by the outfielder.  Things would get even more interesting in the bottom of the sixth.  Christina Sacramento hit a two RBI single that scored both Perez and Matias, cutting the Sand Shark lead to 4-3.  In the following inning, however, Missy Hughes hit an RBI single to score Marissa Becker, increasing their lead to 5-3.  The Bobcats would have no further answers, thus securing the Sand Sharks' third conference victory.

Game two got off to a slow start.  Both teams remained scoreless for the first three innings.  Things took a turn in the bottom of the third when Matias and Cristina Sacramento scored on pass balls, in consecutive plays.  The Sand Sharks would respond in the very next inning, starting with a homerun by Mariah Sanborn.  They would add two additional runs in the inning to the tune of a 3-2 lead.  The lead would be further extended in the sixth and seventh, at which point the Sand Sharks secured the 6-2 victory.

The Bobcats return to action next Saturday, March 28, when they travel to Lake Wales to face Warner in a doubleheader.  First pitch is set for 1:00 P.M. E.T.
