BOBCATS OVERPOWER FLORIDA MEMORIAL IN NON-CONFERENCE MATCHUP

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Bobcats (29-10) continued their strong play on Wednesday in their defeat of conference foe Florida Memorial (7-32).  Although this was a non-conference match, the Bobcats treated it as such asserting their dominance early and often en route to a 16-2 victory.  Today's standout performer was a tie between Eric Santamaria and Michael Centeno, who each went four for five with two RBI.

In addition to Santamaria, plenty of other Bobcats turned in solid performances.  Nicholas Adorno has continued to be a pleasant surprise with three hits and three RBI.  Paul Chacin proved reliable once again with two hits and three RBI.  Nico Hernandez flexed his batting skills with two hits and two RBI, and Steven Fischer hit a three-run home run in the fourth.  Alex Hernandez picked up his first victory of the season, surrendering only one run and recording seven strikeouts in his five innings on the mound.

The Bobcats opened up the match firing on all cylinders.  They would secure three quick outs defensively to open up the top of the first.  They would follow that up with a six-run inning in the bottom half of the inning.  The scoring affair started when a three RBI double by Chacin scored Bermudez, Jerry Downs, and Nico Hernandez.  Chacin would score on the very next play off a Santamaria RBI single.  An Adorno two RBI single would score Santamaria and Adam Duarte.  Another Adorno RBI single would again score Duarte in the bottom third.  Centeno would score on the next play to improve the Bobcats lead to 8-0.  The Bobcats would post another big inning in the bottom of the fourth, when they scored another five runs.  The highlight of the inning was Fischer's first homerun of the season, a ball he belted to left center.  The Lions finally scored a run in the top of the fifth, but the Bobcats would respond with a Santamaria run, brought in by Centeno.  The Bobcats would pad their lead in the bottom of the sixth, when an RBI single by Santamaria scored Downs. Santamaria would soon find his way home off another Centeno RBI single.  The Lions would add another run in the seventh.  However, it would prove futile as Andres Hernandez would close things out for the Bobcats with a strikeout, at which point the run-rule was put into effect.

The Bobcats get a day off tomorrow before continuing conference play against Webber International on Friday, April 3.  First pitch is scheduled for 6 P.M. E.T.
