THOMSSON'S HAT-TRICK PROPELS BOBCATS ROUTE OF GYRENES

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. - St. Thomas (3-3) flexed their muscles in a dominant 9-0 victory over the visiting Ave Maria Gyrenes (2-1).  Sarah Lyppert Thomsson scored the first hat-trick of her career to lead the Bobcats in their latest victory.  With two victories in a row, the Bobcats are now at the .500 mark for the first time this season.

The first half of the match consisted of a Bobcat offensive explosion.  Sharon Tejeda ignited the spark plug when she converted on an early penalty kick in the 5th minute.  A little under 5 minutes later, Tejeda struck again from 30 yards out off a free kick for her fourth goal of the season.  The Bobcats scored their third goal of the half when Jannel Johnson found Ana Parra inside the box for an easy goal in the match's 18th minute.

Less than 30 seconds later, Lyppert Thomsson scored her first goal off a break-away.  In the 22nd minute, Lyppert Thomsson scored her second goal of the contest when Parra found her inside the box.  Lyppert Thomsson was able to float the ball softly over the keeper's head.  In the game's 40th minute, Lyppert Thomson completed the hat-trick when she scored on another streak outside the box.

The Bobcats would continue to find the back of the net in the second half.  Adrian Prieto found Alexa Rivera inside the box in the 59th minute to make the score 7-0.  Prieto continued to spread the wealth when she found Michelle Bailey in the 68th minute.  Bailey scored her second goal of the contest in the 74th minute from outside to box to give the Bobcats a 9-0 lead.  The 9-0 score would remain final as the Gyrenes, consistent with their efforts throughout the affair, never once threatened.

The Bobcats return to the pitch on Friday, Septemeber 25th, for their Sun Conference opener against the Savannah College of Art and Design (Ga.).  Kick-off is set for 2 P.M. E.T.
