MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. - In rainy conditions, St. Thomas (4-5-1, 3-1 TSC) blew out Warner (0-12, 0-5 TSC) 5-0 Wednesday night at Bobcat Field.
Pablo Gill led the Bobcats with two goals and one assist. Â
Artur Sharapov and
Kris Wilkinson each recorded one goal and two assists. Â
Federico Moronell scored one goal and added an assist.
The Bobcats made an early statement, scoring two goals in the first 10 minutes of the match. Â
The first goal came on a header by
Federico Moronell on a beautiful free kick from 35 yards out by
Kris Wilkinson. Â Just minutes later, Moronell set up
Artur Sharapov on a through pass into the penalty box. Sharapov finished the play, giving the Bobcats a 2-0 lead.
In the 32nd minute, STU capitalized once again as Wilkinson scored on a full volley off an assist by Sharapov. Â Four minutes later in the 36th minute,
Pablo Gill scored off a cross by Wilkinson to give the Bobcats a 4-0 lead heading into the half.
In the second half, Gill scored again off another Sharapov assist to extend the lead to 5-0.
Robert Barton didn't seem phazed by the rainy weather either, as he ended the match with four saves, and the teams first shut out of the season.Â
St. Thomas returns to action on Saturday with a road conference tilt at Webber International at 3:30 p.m. in Babson Park, Fla.
