MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. - St. Thomas (7-4, 2-3 TSC) defeated Warner ( 1-7, 0-4 TSC) 1-0 Thursday night at Bobcat Field.
Andreina Sifontes scored the game-winning shot in the 80th minute to break the deadlock of a game the Bobcats dominated, outshooting the Royals 22-0.
The match was primarily played on the Bobcat side of the field where the offense took 22 shots. Leading the way for St. Thomas was
Sarah Lyppert Thomsson who tallied six shots with three on goal. Next inline was the lone goal scorer of the match, Sifontes, who had four shots in the game with 3 on goal.
Amyah Banks and
Ana Parra each had three shots with two on goal.
Although the offense was relentless, the focus of the match went to the Bobcat defense which was led by a strong back line of
Jannel Johnson,
Claudia Avila,
Kylie Braeseke and
Stephanie Martin. The defense played tough refusing to allow a single shot throughout the entire match, setting up
Olivia Waller with her fourth shutout of the season.
Next up for the Bobcats is a Sun Conference road match up against Webber International University in Babson Park, Fla. Sunday, October 16
th at 2 p.m.
