Miami Gardens, Fla.- St. Thomas (9-5, TSC 4-4) defeated Johnson & Wales (4-8-2-, TSC 2-4-1) in what became an exciting 2-1 conference thriller.
The opening goal of the match came at the 15
th minute, with the Bobcats getting on board off of a corner kick by
Stephanie Martin, to
Ana Parra to give STU the early lead.
The teams went in to the half with the same score 1-0, but a free kick by the Bobcats in the 58
th minute would change that quickly.
Jannel Johnson set her ball outside the box, then kicked it and bent the ball over the wall, resulting in a masterful goal.
The Wildcats make it a game after scoring their first goal off a free kick, to bring the Bobcat lead down to one.
The St. Thomas defense and
Olivia Waller did the rest for the team, holding off JWU to 15 shots total in the match, only eight on goal. Waller came up with four saves, two per half.
The Bobcat offense was led by Johnson with three shots, all three on goal, with one striking the back of the net. Also with three shots was
Amyah Banks, with one on goal. Parra and
Kortney Hinden each had two shots in the match both on goal, with Parra netting one early in the match.
Next up for St. Thomas is an away conference match against Southeastern in Lakeland, Fla. on Thursday, October 27 at 5 p.m.
