BOBCATS PLAY IN SUPPORT OF GREENBACK

Miami Gardens, Fla.- St. Thomas (21-6, TSC 8-3) hosted a tri-match on Saturday, October 29 at the Fernandez Family Center, with participating teams Webber International (24-2, TSC 12-0) and Fisk University (5-21, AII ).

The Bobcats split their tri-match tournament, going 1-1, losing to Webber but defeating Fisk University.

The first match was a Sun Conference showdown between #23 Warriors and the Bobcats, which ultimately resulted in a loss for STU. St. Thomas dropped all three sets consecutively 0-3 (21-25, 10-25, 25-27).

Leading the way for the Bobcats was Whitney Battoe (11 kills, one assist, eight digs), followed by Shanotta Bawek (eight kills and 11 digs). Carly Durr ended the match with six kills, two digs and one assist.

The second match for the St. Thomas ended in a win as they swept Fisk University in straight sets by a score of 3-0 (25-9, 25-17, 25-9) to split the weekend.

Bobcat Caitlin McClusky had an outstanding second match with 13 kills, 13 digs, one service ace, one assist and one block assist. Stacey Spalding also contributed with eight kills and two service aces. Kadeeja Griffin closed out the match with seven kills, one service ace, one block assist and one dig.

Next up for the Bobcats is a conference double header against Johnson & Wales on Wednesday, November 2 at 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the Fernandez Family Center.
