FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - St. Thomas (3-5) defeated Briar Cliff (7-7) 73-58 Monday in the Cruzin' Classic at the Fort Lauderdale Convention Center.
Katie Rienas led all players with 24 points on 9-of-14 shooting from the field and 6-of-10 shooting from beyond the arc.
Desanta' Franklin-Jordan hit five field goals and went 5-of-5 from the free throw line to score 15 points.
Supavadee Kunchuan also scored in double figures with 12 points to go along with a game-high six rebounds.
Emily May added nine points and
Samara Auguste chipped in with six points.
The Bobcats jumped out to a 21-8 lead in the first quarter and never looked back, taking a 35-21 lead into halftime. St. Thomas continued to lead in double figures throughout the second half.
STU shot 53% from the field, while holding Briar Cliff to 33% shooting.
The Bobcats return to action with the Miami-Doral Hotel Classic beginning Tuesday, Dec. 27 at the Fernandez Family Center.
